Why You SHOULDN’T Wait to Take the Disney Trip

My boys were 3 and 1, and I distinctly remember the Disney conversation with my husband: “We’re definitely going to do Disney one day, but if we’re going to spend that much money, let’s wait until they’re older so they will remember.”

Clearly before my Disney Adult days, we were on the same page- until we weren’t.

I was scrolling through social media, and I saw a post that said something along the lines of, “Your kids might not remember it, but you will remember the magic through their eyes.” It was all over from there.

A little convincing and a lot of fun planning later, we were headed on our first Disney trip with a 4 year old and a 2 year old. We’ve been back every year since.

Hey! I’m Kayla- mama of two boys, Disney lover, and travel advisor. As an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner and mama that didn’t wait, I’ve taken the time to gain the Disney knowledge to help set your trip apart from others.

Here are a few reasons I learned why you shouldn’t wait to take the Disney trip:

  1. Kids under 3 are FREE! Seriously- no park tickets are needed, they are allowed to eat off of adult plates and share at buffets, and they can accompany you in lightning lanes!

  1. Disney is MADE for kids! Even at 4 and 2, there was so much for my boys to do. Disney has done an exceptional job ensuring that there’s a large number of rides with no height requirements, as well as numerous character interactions, parades, and shows. Disney doesn’t miss the details- even the line queues provide entertainment and fun.

  2. Bring the babies too! Disney goes above and beyond to ensure all ages are cared for- including rider switch options for mom and dad, and Baby Care Centers for the youngest visitors. Disney’s Baby Care Centers have nursing rooms, microwaves, sinks, and changing tables (plus more-including air conditioning!).

  3. There’s no magic like toddlers at Disney magic! I worked very hard to set realistic expectations for our week at Disney- ages 4 and 2 were not easy. Guess what? Those two little blonde boys blew me away. They were so engaged, so mesmerized, and it was beautiful to experience it and hold those memories tight forever.

  4. The magic will change as they do. Every year we go to Disney, our trip looks different. Magical? YES! But as the boys get older, our trip priorities change and suddenly the characters aren’t as important (but now the rides are!).

Go when they’re still little- your trip won’t be perfect, but it will be worth it. You will remember every detail- their first time seeing the castle, that first Mickey hug, unlimited buckets of popcorn, the matching outfits, stroller naps, and your own tears while they watch the fireworks for the first time. It is unforgettable and you will have no regrets.

Warning: Your first trip may lead to yearly trips. Disney with your favorite people can’t be beat. Ask me how I know.
